POSTCARDS  for  SUDAN

Many thanks to everybody who has contributed these in recent years.
Please keep it going !!  There are collectors out there specialising in
places, buildings, particular interests such as transport, industry, works
of art etc. Older cards can be especially valuable.  From last year's card
collections from this community, two batches, featuring ships of
yesteryear, raised £42  each at an auction. A single 'old' card of interest
( an industrial subject ) raised £14.

So what happens to these cards?  There's a dedicated chap down in
Essex who sorts and sells the cards, which are gathered from well-
wishers all over the country. Amazingly, he's presently on target for
£1000 per month for the second year running.  This comes from tens of
thousands of cards, many with little value, which he has carefully sorted
.  He's been doing this for years, initially raising only 100's rather than
1000's of £'s.

But it's clearly worth the effort !   PLEASE tap your friends, family
members, and neighbours..........perhaps gently asking them if they are
hoarding ancient cards in their loft, attic or chest-of-drawers !  Helping a
relative to do a bit of clearing out can be fruitful !

All the money raised through the sale of these cards goes to the Sudan
Church Association, which supports the Church throughout Sudan. This
resource is an encouragement to fellow-Christians in a largely
impoverished context.  Please leave the cards, old or new, stamped and
used or in mint condition, at the Parish Centre or at Church.

Very many thanks.
Chris. Hayward
