Annual Parochial Meeting

Our Annual meeting will be held on Sunday 20th November at 6.30pm and should last for just over an hour. We hold our meeting in Church in the context of a service of worship and prayer.

The meeting is in two parts- The Vestry meeting (well explained by   Dennis Warwick on the facing page) at which churchwardens are elected.
This is followed by the Annual Parochial Church meeting (APCM).
At this the annual accounts of church, an annual report on the activities of the Church, the electoral roll and a churchwarden’s report on the fabric of the church are presented. (these are all legal requirements)

In addition there will be an “open Microphone” at which anyone can add a report, ask a question or speak about any concern to be raised with the PCC.

At the end of the meeting the Vicar will give his report on Parish life. In this he will look forward to the next year in the life of St. Mary’s.

Perhaps the most important part of the meeting is the chance to elect members to the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and, this year, Deanery Synod.

This year there are 6 places to be filled on PCC (5 for three years - 1 for two years). If you feel led to help in the leadership of the Church by being a member of the  PCC nomination forms will be available in the next few weeks in church. If you have any questions please see Michael.

There are 4 places available for election to Deanery Synod. (Deanery Synod members are also members of the PCC).
A Deanery Synod member represents St. Mary’s at 5 meetings a year for all the Churches of the Deanery. It is so important we fill our places as important discussions about staffing and Parish Share take place at this level.

Can we encourage you to:-
· Pray for our annual meeting.
· Attend our Annual meeting- please make this a priority

Consider standing for the places on PCC and Deanery Synod.
